Dr. Vivek Sharma is well qualified, young, energetic, sincere, competent, intelligent researcher and a trained teacher. During his research period he worked on various parameters of Cytology, Taxonomy and Field exploration of North Indian medicinal plants. In addition he has worked with analytical instruments like HPLC, HPTLC, GC-MS, etc., and knows various quality control issues with respect to medicinal plants.
Dr. Sharma has completed his Ph.D. in 2010 from the Department of Botany, Punjabi University Patiala, Punjab and N.P.P. Division, I.H.B.T. (CSIR) Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, India with a dissertation entitled, “Exploration of Cytomorphological Diversity and Chemical Evaluation of Some Important Medicinal Plants from North India.”
During his research period he published more than 36 research papers (Published/ Accepted/ In Press) and 20 research papers he has already communicated in different National and International Journals. Except that some research papers (15) are under preparation.
Dr. Sharma attended 10 National and 1 International Conferences. During International Conference, he has represented North India in 3rd Global Summit on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants held at Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2007. He got 3rd Position in an International Competition i.e. Dr. P. D. Sethi Research Paper Award (2007-2008) for one of the most important and valuable medicinal plant i.e. Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha). Recently, he also got 1st position in a Research Paper Award (2010) i.e. in International Journal of Drug Development and Research on an aromatic plant Mentha arvensis L.
He has extensively studied cytomorphological, ethnobotanical and phytochemical evaluations/ parameters of valuable medicinal plants from North India. Along with research and academic qualifications, Dr. Sharma has also participated in National and International debate, declamation and anchoring contests. He has also participated in Kaun Icon Contest organized by Jain Television at Ludhiana (Punjab). He also got many state level sports prizes in Badminton and was a distinguished badminton player in the Himachal State.
