From a young age, I’ve been captivated by the intricate world of plants. Witnessing the silent resilience of a tiny seedling pushing through soil ignited a passion for understanding their inner workings. This curiosity led me to delve deeper into the fascinating realm of plant biology.
My Master’s thesis at the University of Kurdistan, focusing on grapevine viruses in collaboration with Shiraz University, was a thrilling deep dive into the world of plant pathology. Identifying and characterizing these elusive viruses required meticulous lab work and a constant thirst for knowledge. Dr. Afsharifar’s guidance during this time was invaluable, fostering my problem-solving skills and research acumen.
My research on plant viruses at Kerman University broadened my horizons. It not only deepened my understanding of single-stranded DNA viruses but also fueled my desire to expand my skill set. This led me to delve into bioinformatics and molecular biology, areas crucial for a holistic approach to plant research.
The research visit to SLU, Sweden, with Dr. Anders Kvarnheden, was a turning point. It exposed me to cutting-edge research methodologies and solidified my passion for plant-microbe interactions. This journey has equipped me with a strong foundation in plant biology. Eager to broaden my scientific horizons and collaborate with a variety of researchers, I began working as a Plant Pathology Research Specialist at the University of California, Riverside in 2024. My current focus is on developing diagnostic methods for fungal and viral diseases affecting tropical and subtropical plants.
The world of research is fascinating, but somewhere along the way, the walls of the lab started feeling a little confining. Interacting with students during my research projects opened my eyes to the power of teaching. Their questions and thirst for knowledge became a source of immense inspiration. This realization pushed me to become a lifelong learner, constantly seeking the newest discoveries to better equip myself for transferring knowledge to young minds.
I’m eager to contribute to BioNatural Healing College’s (BNHC) vibrant learning environment by participating in teaching opportunities in BioNatural Healing College.
