MHC 100 – Medicinal Herbs (4 credits | 5 weeks)

Course Description:
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to medicinal herbs, exploring their therapeutic properties, safe usage, and applications in natural healing. Students will gain an understanding of how medicinal plants work, their role in holistic wellness, and best practices for preparation and formulation. The course also covers herbal apothecary techniques, including methods for cultivating, foraging, and processing medicinal plants. Additionally, students will learn to develop plant-based remedies for common ailments such as muscle strain, anxiety, and insomnia.

MHC 101 – Herbal Science & Phytotherapy (4 credits | 5 weeks)

Course Description:
This course explores the scientific principles of herbal medicine and phytotherapy, emphasizing evidence-based applications for various health conditions. Through case studies, students will examine the efficacy of selected herbal therapies for specific medical conditions, making this course a valuable tool for client counseling in clinical practice. The curriculum also includes dosage guidelines for adults and children, alongside the development of comprehensive treatment plans that integrate multiple therapeutic options for holistic healing.

  • Analyze case studies demonstrating the effectiveness of herbal therapies.

MHC 102 – Understanding Aromatherapy (4 credits | 5 weeks)

Course Description:
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to aromatherapy, exploring the therapeutic properties of essential oils and their applications in holistic health. Students will examine the scientific evidence supporting the use of essential oils for various common health conditions, as well as the art and practice of natural aromatherapy. The course also covers safety guidelines and precautions to ensure the effective and responsible use of essential oils in different situations.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the science and benefits of essential oils in aromatherapy.
  • Identify therapeutic properties of key essential oils for common ailments.
  • Evaluate the evidence-based research behind aromatherapy applications.
  • Learn proper usage, dilution ratios, and safety precautions for essential oils.

MHC 103 – Introduction to Acupuncture (4 credits | 5 weeks)

Course Description:
This course provides an introductory exploration of acupuncture, covering its historical origins, fundamental principles, and practical applications in modern healthcare. Students will learn about the Five Element Theory, the mechanisms of acupuncture in disease diagnosis and treatment, and its integration with modern medicine. The course also highlights acupuncture’s role in pain management, holistic healing, and patient care.

  • Understand the history and foundational principles of acupuncture.
  • Analyze the Five Element Theory and its relevance to acupuncture practice.
  • Explore how acupuncture is used in disease diagnosis and treatment.

MHC 104 – Essential Microbiology (4 credits | 5 weeks)

Alternative Option: Introduction to Vitamins, Minerals, and Herbs

Course Description:
This course provides an overview of microbiology, focusing on the fundamental characteristics of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and protozoa. Students will explore the role of microbes in human health, infection pathways, and disease prevention. The course also examines diagnostic methods, treatment options, and immune system responses to microbial infections.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the basic characteristics and classifications of microorganisms.
  • Understand how infections occur, spread, and affect the human body.
  • Examine diagnostic techniques and treatment strategies for microbial infections.
  • Explore the role of beneficial and harmful microbes in human health.

MHC 105 – Green Prescriptions (4 credits | 5 weeks)

Course Description:
This course explores the therapeutic potential of green herbs and their role in natural medicine. Students will learn how to utilize medicinal plants as part of a green pharmacy, emphasizing safety, efficacy, and proper application. The course covers selecting the right herbs for specific ailments, including arthritis, asthma, colds and flu, coughing, constipation, fever, and even preventive strategies for chronic conditions like cancer.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the healing properties of medicinal herbs and their applications.
  • Identify herbal remedies for common health conditions and their safe usage.
  • Explore the principles of herbal safety, contraindications, and dosage.
  • Gain insight into holistic approaches to health and disease prevention using plant-based medicine.

Business Skill & Communication And Human Biology Courses are not included in the diploma program (Short Course 5/6 weeks Separate and optional for Students with a Separate Tuition Fee of $200)

This course guides and covers the basic concept of starting a business and all the necessary issues required for a Natural Health Consultant, such as schools, accreditation, credentials, legal issues, malpractice insurance, forms, assessment systems, marketing, compliance, appointment structuring, and other related issues.

Note: Each online course with its assigned period has assignments, three exams,  and a paper per course for students to write.

Introduction to Human Biology (Anatomy & Physiology 5 credits/6 weeks) Separate and optional for Students to enhance their knowledge about Human Biology with a Separate Tuition  Fee of $250.

This course introduces the human body on a microscopic level, including cells, tissues, organs, and systems13. It describes basic human body parts and their life process. It also explains how important the human body is, which consists of cells, tissue functions in these organs, and systems that play a significant role in the structures and functions of each major system.

The BNHC academic committee can modify the curriculum based on science and update research on prospective students’ needs, backgrounds, or careers.
